What is The Gospel Delivery Project?
The Gospel Delivery Project is a citywide initiative to offer the message of Jesus to every home in Sheffield.
Over five years, trained volunteers will personally deliver a Gospel of Mark, designed with images and stories that link it to Sheffield, to around 250,000 households across the city.
The project is not just about distributing books, it’s about equipping Christians to share their faith naturally and helping people explore the Bible and connect with their local church community.
Why The Gospel Delivery Project?
There is growing interest in faith and the Bible in the UK, especially among younger generations.
Research shows that many people are open to exploring the Bible, and nearly half of new believers say reading it played a key role in their journey to faith.
The Gospel Delivery Project aims to respond to this moment by making the Gospel easily accessible to every household in Sheffield and creating opportunities for people to encounter God’s love.
2026 Pilot
The Gospel Delivery Project will roll out over approximately five years, and began with two pilot delivery areas in June 2026.
Teams of volunteers in Parson Cross and Hackenthorpe took the bold step to hit the ground first. The process for the Gospel Delivery was this:
All volunteers took part in practical training to be able to confidently share Jesus and the Bible simply on the doorstep.
They then went our and delivered postcards to every home to let people know that they would be coming round soon to deliver the Gospel.
(For a number of people receiving a postcard gave them an excitement for the visit and so the conversations on the doorstep when the volunteers came to deliver were even better.)
Then it was GO time. The two teams in both areas went out and delivered around 2500 copies of the Gospel. Placed directly into peoples hands. The conversations that happened on the doorstep were largely positive and have led to people engaging with the local church and over half of people who were offered prayer accepted.
It is has been incredible to see overwhelming success that the GDP pilot has been. Two areas of Sheffield have been beautifully impacted by Gospel, prayer and connections made with the local church and it is exciting to think what could come from this.
The long-term goal is to reach every one of Sheffield’s roughly 250,000 homes, let’s go!
How will The Gospel Delivery Project be actioned?
Local churches and volunteers will take part in organised delivery seasons.
Teams will prayer-walk neighbourhoods and deliver postcards letting residents know a visit is coming.
Trained volunteers will then visit homes to offer a Gospel booklet and a friendly conversation.
Each area will have local volunteers paired with experienced evangelists, with routes and responses logged through a dedicated delivery app to coordinate the effort effectively.
Who is supporting or partnering with The Gospel Delivery Project?
The project is supported by several organisations that specialise in prayer and mission.
The Hive Network is helping with training for delivery teams, while the Prayer Walk App is being adapted to manage delivery routes and logistics.
Financial support has also been provided by national funders including the Lauderdale Trust and the Deo Gloria Trust, alongside local trusts and individual donors.

Churches and individuals can help mobilise volunteers to take part in delivery teams.
Financial contributions can support the printing of Gospels, training, and project logistics.
Churches can also help by sharing updates about the project and preparing to welcome and disciple people who begin exploring faith as a result of the initiative.
Every contribution helps make it possible to reach the whole city.
